Palencia’s Unique Live/Shop Village Center Thriving With Additions of Five New Retailers

August 15th, 2014 · Leave a Comment

A unique residential/retail Village Center at Palencia in St. Johns County has added five retailers this summer and the community now has more than 30 commercial businesses operating in the hub or at other locations.

Retailers Wine Down on Market Street, Miko Salon, Market Street Boutique, Pure Balance Wellness & Yoga and Intermedia have opened in Palencia’s Village Center, joining other commercial businesses.

In all, more than 30 retailers, including Starbucks, BB&T Bank, Dunkin’ Donuts, a pet clinic, an exercise studio, and Donovan’s Irish Pub, operate in the Village Center or retail spaces at Palencia along U.S. Route 1 near the entrance.

Palencia’s walkable, European-style Village Center also features the newly renovated The Palencia Club and the Village Lofts at Palencia – 16 spacious residential units above the retail shops in the community’s center.

The vibrant mix — sparked by increased retail activity and rising homes sales – is creating an energy in the Village Center that developer Hines  had envisioned when it opened the 2,350-acre community in the early 2000s.

“It’s exciting to see our vision of Palencia become reality,” said Walt O’Shea, Hines’ managing director. “The growth of retail at our Village Center is something we have all been anticipating. It is working hand-in-hand with the increase in home sales and creating an energy in the heart of Palencia that is palpable.”
