Rethinking and Remaking Downtown Jacksonville

May 18th, 2010 · Leave a Comment

All of us want a vibrant, energized downtown. In case you missed the recent ULI program on downtown revitalization, there is an interesting report available on the topic that you will want to check out.

Downtown Vision recently released “Turning the Corner; Rethinking and Remaking Downtown,” which provides an analysis of Downtown’s decline and a guide to its revitalization.

The report focuses on eight principles that DVI believes should guide community efforts, including the need to build a vibe in downtown Jacksonville. It doesn’t make detailed recommendations but instead suggests a framework for revitalizing downtown and moving Jacksonville forward.

The paper is a follow up to the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce’s 1992 white paper titled “A Turning Point, the Decline of Downtown.”

“Turning the Corner: Rethinking and Remaking Downtown” is available here. Take a look and let us know your thoughts about bringing new life to downtown Jacksonville in the comments section below.
