The Maker Faire is coming back to Jacksonville! The second annual Jacksonville Mini Maker Faire is Saturday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Museum of Science & History (MOSH). Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth — a family friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement.

Makers range from engineers to artists to scientists to crafters to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds.

“The aim of Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect and grow this community,” said Maria Hane, President of MOSH. “Jacksonville Mini Maker Faire is a celebration of creativity and ingenuity in and around Jacksonville. It is an incredible showcase for imagination, invention and hands-on technical skills and a wonderful blend of art and science.”

In addition to the Maker showcase, the day features special MOSH programming including Planetarium Explorations, an adventure in space that highlights some of the immersive possibilities of the Bryan-Gooding Planetarium; Flow Motion: The Lissajous Experience, see what happens when Martial Arts, the geometry of motion and visual arts collide (Maker); First Coast Flute Choir, a 14 piece ensemble playing music from classical to modern on a variety of different flutes (Bryan-Gooding Planetarium); Meet and Greets with the Animals (Florida Naturalist’s Center); workshops including Lantern Making for the Jax Lantern Parade happening later that evening and a Robotics Challenge with Bolts & Bytes Maker Academy; and performances by local hip-hop artist Lyricist Live and funk/jam/rock band Ginger Beard Man (Stage).

Tickets to the Jacksonville Mini Maker Faire are on sale. Ticket prices include: Adults $10; Children (3+) $5 and Children (Under 3) free. For more information, visit jacksonville.makerfaire.com.
