January 11th, 2011 · Leave a Comment

We love to hear news about industry professionals that are working to advance their expertise and remain at the forefront of their professions.

Judith Sisler Johnston, allied member, ASID, and president of Sisler Johnston Interior Design, recently became one of the select group of professionals nationwide to earn the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation, identifying her as one of the building industry’s top professionals with skill and knowledge specific to home and commercial modifications for aging-in-place.

CAPS provides the skills and knowledge to help retirees and older adults age-in-place independently and comfortably in their homes. CAPS classes are offered through local and state home building associations and at national trade shows.

Sisler Johnston, who specializes in designing for active adult and continuing care senior lifestyle communities, is passionate about providing an environment that enables seniors to live at ease during their maturing years.

“There is a tremendous need to understand the aging-in-place demographic and to design living environments that allow older adults to remain in the comfort of their own home as they age. I am proud to receive the CAPS accreditation and honored to play a role in helping seniors transition comfortably in their homes.”
