Splitters a Lasting Phenomenon at Ocean’s Edge

September 15th, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Back in February of this year we told you about a new breed of real estate buyers called Splitters.  These homebuyers split their time between a primary residence and a vacation home. The reasons behind multiple residences vary for individual homeowners, but the desire is universal for both residences to have the feeling of a true home.

leftOcean’s Edge, the beachside community of condominium homes located in Jacksonville Beach, offers the perfect laid-back beach lifestyle that is ideal for many second-home owners. Ocean’s Edge residents, Linda and Randy Scheff, own a second residence at Ocean’s Edge because they were looking to  create a home for themselves and their extended family where everyone can gather and relax, regardless of the time of year or individual schedules. Here’s what Linda Scheff had to say about the benefits of the Splitter lifestyle in a recent interview.

“We really enjoy our home at Ocean’s Edge. My husband and I are here as many weekends as possible because we love the laid-back beach lifestyle. We also really appreciate the fact that our family can stay at our home here and feel like they are on vacation.”

The Scheffs are not alone at Ocean’s Edge in their desire to feel at home when they are on vacation.  There are many other splitters at the community who enjoy the coastal lifestyle and resort-style amenities which include a state-of-the-art fitness center, resort-style pool and lagoon, poolside outdoor grill and summer kitchen, lake with observation deck, and a private putting green.

Ocean’s Edge resident, Paula Ervin, also owns a home in Tennessee and lives in Jacksonville Beach to be close to family and to soak up the one-of-a-kind beach lifestyle. She shared her experience as well in a recent interview. She and her husband, Chris, consider the low- maintenance lifestyle at Ocean’s Edge ideal as owners of two homes.

“We spend up to four months a year here visiting family. It’s important to us that we have the same freedom we do at our other home.  Living at Ocean’s Edge truly feels like living in a resort with the beach access and amenities. Once we’re here, we can get to everything we need on our bikes. It’s a great lifestyle.”

According to Vikki Robbins, partner of Pace Builder Services, the locally owned real estate company responsible for sales and marketing at Ocean’s Edge, the splitter mentality seems to be spreading at Ocean’s Edge as the community’s lifestyle is a perfect fit for many seeking a true home away from home.

Ocean’s Edge offers homes priced from $161,000 to $259,000. More information about the homes and community is available by calling (904) 247-9052 or online at www.oceansedgeliving.com.
