Springfield Preservation and Revitalization Council Celebrates Opening of Three New Businesses

June 28th, 2019 · Leave a Comment

Three new businesses are coming to the historic Springfield neighborhood.

Catie Rosie’s Comfort Cuisine, Strings Sports Brewery, and Brick and Beam are all opening for business, making a total of eight new, small businesses to open in Historic Springfield so far in 2019.

Named after both of her grandmothers, Catherine and Rosa Lee, Anita Dalton was inspired to create her food truck, Catie Rosie’s Comfort Cuisine, after witnessing the incredible example the two women have given her throughout her life. Catie and Rosie were proficient cooks, gardeners, and ever resourceful homemakers from whom Anita draws her Southern Fusion vision. Her aim with Catie Rosie’s is to remind her customers of comfort food while using new and creative ways to prepare favorites, leaning heavily upon the use of seasonal, fresh, and locally sourced produce, seafood, and dry goods wherever possible.

After the long-anticipated opening of String Sports Brewery in June, Historic Springfield became home to a trifecta of breweries along the Main Street corridor. Strings, which is a sports-themed brewery, is located at the intersection of 9th and Main Street in a building that was originally built as a service station in 1938. Every beer on Strings’ menu has a sports-related name with some genuinely local shoutouts, such as the Red Caps Red Ale named in honor of the Negro American League baseball team which played at Durkee Field from 1938 to 1942. In addition to brewing, Strings will also offer an in-house restaurant called Strings Street Fare, which will offer traditional Southern dishes with an eclectic flare.

Occupying the former space of The Pearl nightclub, Brick and Beam aims to bring a beautiful event venue to the heart of Historic Springfield. The site boasts 2,300-square-feet of interior parlor, an expansive outdoor back porch, a bridal suite, and a caterer’s warming kitchen. Owners Amy and Josh Smith have worked hard to consider everything that may be needed to accommodate a wide variety of events. Located at 1101 N. Main Street, Brick and Beam is centrally-located and convenient.
