JAX Chamber Priorities Focus on Job Growth and Economic Development

The JAX Chamber board of directors has set its 2013 priorities and goals to help drive quality economic growth in Northeast Florida. The priorities include revitalizing Downtown Jacksonville, enhancing education and workforce development, strengthening transportation and infrastructure needs, building strategic partnerships and promoting the area’s community pride.

Mayo Clinic Contributes to Region’s Growing Life Sciences Industry

Area leaders toured a world-class institution and one of the JAX Region’s greatest assets, Mayo Clinic Jacksonville. Mayo Clinic Hospital provides a 214-bed facility with 16 operating rooms, transplant and epilepsy units, and advanced cardiac and neurosurgery facilities. The organization recently announced an $80 million expansion project that will add two floors and 90 beds to its hospital. The hospital expansion project will also add approximately 400 new jobs at Mayo and 250 construction jobs. As part of the #ilovejax campaign, the JAX Chamber is featuring the positive attributes located in the seven-county region by hosting tours.

Top Entries Announced in JAX Boldest Contest

The results are in for the JAX Boldest Contest. Initiated as part of the Innovate Northeast Florida project and the JAX Chamber’s #ilovejax campaign, JAX Boldest is a contest that uncovers and celebrates new companies, non-profits and projects making bold achievements in the region. Voted on by the community, the top entries were unveiled during an awards ceremony this week following the Northeast Florida Regional Economic Development Forum.
