The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens is providing free admission and programming to commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Sponsored by The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida’s Presidential Grants Program for the fourth consecutive year in the row, events and activities will be presented throughout the day on Monday, Jan. 16, 2023. Highlights include:
- Mindful Yoga in the gardens with Katie Helow of Casita Yoga Studio from 10 to 11 a.m. Guests must bring their own towel or mat. Registration for this event is required. Click here to register.
- Free admission for all from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Live music sets throughout the day by Akia Uwanda, a classically trained, soulful jazz vocalist
- Performances by the renowned Ritz Chamber Players and Jacksonville Arts & Music School (JAMS) chorus
- JAMS The Book of Lost Magic Book Signing and StoryWalk debut
- Live Painting Activity with Myah Freeman & the Ritz Theatre and Museum
- Poetry Activity with Chynnia Chandler & the Ritz Theatre and Museum
- Scavenger hunt
- A prayer for peace to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., guided by community faith leaders, OneJax and UNF Interfaith students
- The Cummer Café will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
