The Small Business Administration (SBA) and Jacksonville Women’s Business Center recently hosted a Small Business Summit in celebration of National Small Business Week.

This was the third installation of the annual event where small business owners are provided with hands on opportunities to learn how to start and grow their businesses. The event was coordinated by the SBA North Florida and the Jacksonville Women’s Business Center (JWBC).

“We had over 150 people attend the Small Business Summit. These are local entrepreneurs and those that want to start a business. There is a strong entrepreneurial spirit in the Jacksonville area, and we encourage business owners to learn, network, and connect with each other. The North Florida District Office is proud to host an event like this as part of National Small Business Week,” stated Wilfredo J. Gonzalez, SBA North Florida District Director.

The summit featured speakers, plenary sessions, panels, and networking opportunities. Small business owners connected with SBA resource and community partners such as the Small Business Development Center at the University of North Florida, SCORE, Florida Veterans Business Outreach Center, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and General Services Administration were in attendance. Local Jacksonville based groups such as the Jacksonville Aviation Authority, JAXPORT, and the Jacksonville Small and Emerging Business program staff were also in attendance. Participants were also able to network with lenders, mentors, and nonprofits.
