July 13th, 2011 · Leave a Comment

THE PLAYERS Championship announced today that Kevin English, a fourth-generation Floridian and active member of the First Coast community, is the newly appointed “Blue Coat” for the annual tournament. English is now one of five vice chairs who, along with the tournament chair, will lead the 2,000-plus volunteer force of THE PLAYERS. The volunteer leadership for THE PLAYERS 2012 includes: Tournament Chair Curtis Hazel; First Vice Chair Robert Davis; and Vice Chairs Andy Baggs, Brian Franco, Michele McManamon and English.

English has lived and worked in the Jacksonville area since the fall of 1992. After four years with Deloitte and Touche LLP as a Certified Public Accountant, English joined PSS World Medical, Inc., a $2 billion national distributor of medical supplies to the physician and long-term care markets. During his 16 years with PSS World Medical, English has held several senior management positions, including his current position on the executive management team as the chief sourcing officer.

“I am very honored and humbled to join the volunteer leadership team for THE PLAYERS Championship,” said English. “Volunteering for THE PLAYERS provides a tremendous opportunity to give back to our community. It’s truly a special time and place every year when so many volunteers come together as one team to help put on one of golf’s premier championships and support numerous charitable organizations throughout our local community.”

English has volunteered with THE PLAYERS for four years. His volunteer assignments have included volunteer parking and shuttles, assistant chair for corporate hospitality and commissary and committee chair for VIP parking. His current role is vice chair, volunteer services.
