THE PLAYERS Championship 2012 Tournament By The Numbers

THE PLAYERS Championship reports another banner year for the annual tournament at TPC Sawgrass. Total attendance for THE PLAYERS 2012 was up 20 percent compared to 2012 and NBC’s coverage of THE PLAYERS was the best in three years, with average weekend viewers topping 4 million and increasing over last year by 21 percent. Below are some additional highlights from this year’s tournament

  • THE PLAYERS was broadcast to nearly 600 million households throughout 224 territories in 31 languages.  A total of 84 channels broadcast the tournament internationally.
  • Golf Channel’s week-long coverage of THE PLAYERS was the highest-rated and most-watched week in the history of the network’s coverage of the PGA TOUR’s marquee event.
  • 890 staff representing 197 media organizations from 13 different countries (United States, Australia, Germany, Japan, Argentina, France, Korea, Canada, Chile, Scotland, Wales, Denmark and England) were at the 2012 tournament.
  • Corporate sales increased 8 percent over 2011.
  • There were 20,602 free military tickets issued this year, a slight increase over last year.
  • Approximately 12,000 people came through the Patriots’ Outpost this year, an increase of 2,000 over last year.
  • The first-ever PLAYERS Military Veterans Job Fair at the Patriots’ Outpost saw attendance of 375 military job seekers and 21 companies participating.
  • Executive Women’s Day attendance increased from 240 to a sold-out crowd of 290, and revenue from the event more than doubled over last year.
  • The Champions for Education breakfast hosted by THE PLAYERS was attended by 120 of the most influential people in Jacksonville.
  • The Military Appreciation Day Ceremony and Luke Bryan Concert was attended by an estimated 11,000 fans, an increase of 1,000 from 2011.
  • THE PLAYERS saw attendance of 35,510 for Sunday’s Pink Out, earning the 26.2 with Donna Foundation a donation of $35,510 from THE PLAYERS ($1 for every fan who attended).

THE PLAYERS is finalizing the total amount of money raised for charities throughout Northeast Florida and that information will be presented during THE PLAYERS Championship Giving Back Month in October.
