THE PLAYERS, Uber Expand Relationship For 2019 Event

March 11th, 2019 · Leave a Comment

THE PLAYERS Championship and Uber, the Preferred Ridesharing partner of THE PLAYERS, announced an expanded relationship for the 2019 event to more efficiently help fans travel safely to and from the tournament, which returns to THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass March 12-17.

“In 2018, we had our largest amount of rideshares to THE PLAYERS,” said Jared Rice, executive director of THE PLAYERS.  “Our new Uber plan will enable us to triple the amount of rides taken while keeping the experience easy, enjoyable and seamless for our spectators.”

New in 2019, THE PLAYERS has a designated rideshare pickup, and drop-off, location just steps from the Couples Entry off of ATP Boulevard.  Rideshare vehicles will be staged outside the Couples Entry during peak exit times, making this one of the easiest modes of transportation for spectators.

Getting to THE PLAYERS Championship:

  • Download or update the Uber app on your phone
  • Enter Destination: THE PLAYERS Championship
  • Enter the tournament through the Couples Entry

Leaving THE PLAYERS Championship:

  • Exit tournament grounds through the Couples Entry
  • Follow the tournament signage to the designated Uber pick up area outside the Couples Entry
  • Get in available Uber and head to your preferred destination

As an added incentive, fans who purchase an Uber will receive a coupon code in their end of ride email from Uber for $20 toward the purchase of PUMA product in the PGA TOUR Fan Shop in THE PLAYERS Welcome Experience. Valid same day, while supplies last.

New for 2019, The Coca-Cola Kitchen will be located at the Uber staging area, serving as a unique and entertaining gathering place to enjoy and share some amazing Coke & Food during the tournament. It will be serving up delicious ice-cold Coca-Cola perfectly paired with freshly made cuisines prepared on-site by Publix chefs.  The Coca-Cola Kitchen will be open Thursday through Sunday.

For fans that do drive to the event, parking must be purchased in advance from THEPLAYERS.com.  On Tuesday and Wednesday of tournament week, as in previous years, fans can still park for FREE in the general parking lot, and no parking pass is required.

From Thursday-Sunday at THE PLAYERS, however, fans are required to purchase daily parking passes in advance ($35 Thursday for general parking; $40 per day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in general parking).  Parking passes are required for entry and can only be purchased at THEPLAYERS.com/parking. The tournament will not be selling parking passes in the lot, and parking will not be sold at Publix or Will Call.

Fans with four or more guests in a vehicle can park for FREE Thursday through Sunday with the “FOUR FOR FREE” parking voucher. Fans can go online to THEPLAYERS.com/parking (click on the “Tickets” tab) to download the voucher, which allows free parking in the general lot off of CR210. A new voucher must be downloaded and printed for each day, or saved on an electronic device, and presented upon entry; there is no limit to the number of days guests can park for free.  There is, however, a limited number of vouchers available for print per day.

Shuttles are available from downtown-area hotels to TPC Sawgrass for THE PLAYERS, Thursday through Sunday of tournament week. Shuttles from Hogan Street by the Omni Hotel, Hyatt Regency Hotel, and Lexington Hotel will be available to hotel guests and for residents to “park and ride,” providing a convenient and cost-effective way for fans to get to and from the tournament.

Shuttle passes are $20 plus applicable fees and must be purchased in advance at THEPLAYERS.com/shuttle. Shuttles will operate Thursday through Sunday.
