Funk-N-Run in Nocatee, March 1

With the weather warming up, why not get outside this weekend? Consider participating in the Funk-N-Run, an event Saturday, March 1 in Nocatee that offers a choice of an untimed, family 5K color run, a kids obstacle course or an adult obstacle course, beginning at 9 a.m.

If you choose to participate in the 5K color run, make sure to wear white because part of the fun is being doused by a safe and colorful dye. The obstacle courses are not for the faint of heart. So come prepared to compete.

The cost ranges from $10. See other information, including the location, and sign up here.

Ortega River Run, March 1

If you live in Jacksonville, you might want to think about the Daily’s Ortega River Run, a 5-mile run closer to home that serves as good training for the upcoming Gate River Run.

The Ortega River Run is one of the largest and oldest running. The event includes a 1-mile fun run that begins 30 minutes before the 5-mile run at 8:30 a.m.. Both events begin and end at St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School in Ortega.

A family-friendly street fair offers give-aways, food and activites all morning.

Online registration is closed, but you may sign up at the school on race morning beginning at 7 a.m.

Harlem Globetrotters, Feb. 28, 7 p.m.

More of a sports observer? Well, the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters visit Jacksonville Friday, Feb. 28 for a game at 7 p.m. at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Tickets start at $24 and are available online.

The Globetrotters were the first organization in sports and entertainment to let fans vote on rules when the team introduced the concept last year. Online vote is now open at harlemglobetrotters.com/rule .

If you go to the game, be prepared, though. The team sometimes flouts the rules, and the referees often don’t seem to notice.

WWE Live, March 1, 7:30 p.m.

And while we’re blurring the line between sports and entertainment, let us also suggest checking out WWE Live – Road to WrestleMania, on Saturday, March 1 at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena at 7:30 p.m.

All your favorite WWE superstars will be in action, including John Cena, who defends his WWE World Heavyweight Championship title against Randy Orton. Also, tag team champions, The Rhodes Brothers, defend their WWE Tag Team Championship against The Real Americans.

More information about this exciting event is available at JaxEvents.com.
