What’s Happening in Northeast Florida

November 1st, 2013 · Leave a Comment

Looking for fun things to do this weekend? Here are a few suggestions from WhatsUpJacksonville!

It’s Georgia vs. Florida (or, depending on whom you ask, Florida vs. Georgia) weekend! The University of Florida Gators will take the field against the University of Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 3:30 p.m. at EverBank Field. The football game is a rivalry that has become a long-standing tradition in Northeast Florida for residents and visitors alike.

Don’t miss RV City presented by Winn-Dixie, the Touchdown Showdown (the home of interactive games, jumbo screens to watch the big game and more), the Florida-Georgia Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Corporate Village and much more!

Looking to tailgate and party in style for the game? The Playmaker’s Club, a three-story structure being erected outside Gate 4 at EverBank Field, will be open in time for Saturday’s SEC matchup. Admission includes unlimited bar, buffet, celebrity appearances and a pre-game concert. The club has air-conditioning and private restrooms. But it will cost you. The price of admission is $250.

In addition to the big game, a couple of our favorite activities are taking place downtown.

Riverside Arts Market, also known as RAM, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. RAM offers a dependable and affordable marketplace for artists and artisans to sell their products. In addition to artist vendors, the weekly market features live musical entertainment, street performers, food vendors and a fresh produce market. The market site is located under the canopy of the Fuller Warren Bridge, which carries Interstate 95 over the St. Johns River in Downtown Jacksonville. Admission is free.

It’s the first Saturday of the month, and the return of Community First Saturdays! Are you ready for the biggest Community First Saturdays of the year? Because of game day activities, Community First Saturdays is moving back to Coastline Drive East next to the Hyatt this weekend.

Community First Saturdays has a great line up of entertainment, food trucks and a bar with craft beers. Parking is available for $10 in the Old Courthouse parking lot. Community First Saturdays also offers a free bike valet. Community First Saturdays will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

These are just a few of the events taking place in Downtown Jacksonville this weekend. Do you know of others? Tell us in the comments section below!
