What’s Happening in Northeast Florida

March 28th, 2014 · Leave a Comment

Jacksonville’s unofficial sport is football, and the Jaguars don’t start up until the fall. So, in the meantime, check out the home opener of the Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena Football League on Saturday, March 29 at 7 p.m.

The Sharks won the championship again last year, and are poised to take on the San Antonio Talons at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena for an event themed “Saturday Night Live.”

Additional information and tickets are available at http://jaxsharks.com/

If you’re not into sports, how about music – or lasers? Experience total-sensory entertainment as laser lights, high-def images and digital sound collide to create a Cosmic Concert!

The Bryan-Gooding Planetarium at the Museum of Science & History on the Southbank rocks every Friday night, including March 29, with Cosmic Concert laser light shows at 7 p.m., 8 p.m., 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Every hour is a different show and each ticket is good for one. Admission is $2.50 to $5. Click here to contact MOSH for other details.

The Slide into Spring Music and Craft Beer Festival takes place on Amelia Island on Saturday, March 29, from noon until 9 p.m.

And if you’re into festivals, this is a good one. It features more than a dozen breweries offering samples of their best beers and music by Keller Williams,  Herd of Watts, Vagabond Swing, The Fritz and Yo Mama’s Fat Booty Band.

There also will be an art walk, an interactive kids zone, food trucks and a craft bazaar. For more information, visit the festival website.

Easter is the third Sunday of April, but everyone loves chocolate. So The Avenues mall is getting an early start on this with an Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday, March 29 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The event will be held at the Belk Court and it will feature eggs hunt, a relay race and crafts.
