What’s Happening in Northeast Florida

Looking for ways to connect and engage with your community? Check out the March edition of WhatsUpJacksonville’s Happenings!

There are many events happening on the River and Riverwalk on Saturday, March 2. Community First Saturdays returns from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Northbank Riverwalk Downtown. The event is held on Coastline Dr. at the east end of the Riverwalk. There is ample parking in the old courthouse parking lot and bike valet available on site, both free of charge. There is also ample parking Downtown and metered street parking is free. JTA has also generously activated the Skyway for free, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There are numerous activities the whole family will enjoy including a “River Friendly” scavenger hunt with the St. Johns Riverkeeper beginning at 10 a.m. Meet at their booth for Rising Tides: young professionals of St. Johns Riverkeeper. The hunt ends at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens.

There are also fitness classes, guided bike tours, CPR demos, children’s activities, food trucks and more! Community First Saturdays is made possible by Community First Credit Union and many more sponsors. Saturday is the opening day of the fifth season of the Riverside Arts Market, Northeast Florida’s largest weekly cultural event. The market under the Fuller Warren Bridge is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features a variety of vendors and live entertainment.

The Jacksonville Humane Society’s Mutt March runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jacksonville Landing.

Beyond the weekend, if you want to be part of Northeast Florida’s future then register for the next Community Visioning Event, which is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Prime Osborn Center. The event will feature free parking and light refreshments. For your convenience, here are the parking details and Convention Center map.
