On Sunday evening, The Youth Crisis Center (YCC) invited the community to celebrate the kick-off to this year’s much-anticipated THE PLAYERS Championship Mexican-style. Senors and Senoritas gathered at the Cinco de Mayo-themed fundraiser, Margaritas and Chips, at Stadium Village at THE PLAYERS Championship for an evening of food, fun and contests.

High Tide Burrito and Catered Cocktails provided guests with food and drink as they enjoyed live music by String Sessions. The night also included a costume contest that awarded the best-dressed amigo in authentic Mexican apparel as well as a raffle. Guests also received one complimentary “chip” shot ticket for the chip shot contest at the miniature enclosed legendary 17th island hole. The winner took home a luxurious getaway to Cabo San Lucas’ four-star Hilton resort, plus round trip airfare for two.

Proceeds from the evening benefitted the non-profit organization, which was established in 1974 as Florida’s first runaway program, and has since grown to be one of the busiest runaway centers in the nation. Serving more than 1,500 children every year, the YCC does more than provide shelter for runaways. YCC offers a variety of services addressing different needs of children and families in crisis. From emergency shelter to counseling to long-term housing, YCC programs are designed to keep at-risk youth safely off the streets, providing options for a better future.
