March 18th, 2018 · Leave a Comment

Mark your calendars for the inaugural Jacksonville Lantern Parade, an illuminated celebration of creativity, art, children and the St. Johns River. The event is April 7, from 6 to 10 p.m.

The parade route will stretch along the Northbank Riverwalk, extending from the Fuller-Warren Bridge to Hogan Street. The parade starts at 8 p.m.

Hosted by Jacksonville Magazine, the glowing display of color will literally shine a light on the heart of Jacksonville. Everyone is invited and participation is free to the public. Organizers ask that every participant carry something the glows, twinkles or shines.

In conjunction with the Jacksonville Lantern Parade, several outlets are hosting lantern workshops for groups big and small including:

March 18, 6 p.m.
Lanterns with a Twist
Painting with a Twist, San Marco

March 20, 6 p.m.
Lantern Making + Aardwolf
Aardwolf Brewing

March 27, 6 p.m.

If you don’t want to make a lantern but would like to participate, lanterns will be available for purchase ($5-$10) at these local markets and festivals.

GastroFest, Friendship Fountain, March 24

Old Town Art Show, St. Francis Field, St. Augustine, March 25

The Lantern Parade will serve as a fundraiser, a benefit with the goal of raising money to purchase needed art supplies for area schools. More information is available at JacksonvilleLanternParade.com.
