If you’re looking for some summer fun and excitement, there’s plenty going on around Jacksonville this weekend! Here’s a quick look at just a few events you may want to check out:

Friday, July 8

  • Jacksonville Suns v. Montgomery Biscuits – Bring the family out to cheer as the Suns play host to the Montgomery Biscuits for a four-game series. Join in the fun at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

  • George Aspinall Band – Groove to this local favorite band as they rock on the river with this free concert from The Landing starting at 8 p.m.
  • Cosmic Classic Rock Concert – Experience total-sensory entertainment as laser lights, high-def images and digital sound collide to create a Cosmic Concert! Starts at 5 p.m. at MOSH.

Saturday, July 9

  • Jacksonville Sharks v. Dallas Vigilantes at Veterans Memorial Arena – Don your favorite Hawaiian shirt and enjoy a hot dog in paradise for Shark-a-Ritavilla. This night will also feature a performance by the 2011 Jacksonville Sharks Junior Attack Dance Camp.
  • Ancient City Con IV – This two-day fest features workshops, games, celebrities and contests covering all things sci-fi, fantasy, anime and gaming.
  • Jacksonville 48 Hour Film Project Awards Show – You’ve seen the films and voted for your favorites, now find out what the judges thought! Come out and see who wins the award for “Best 48 Hour Film Jacksonville 2011.” Starts at 7 p.m. at the Florida Theatre.
