The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida recently announced that Mark D. LeMaire, a highly respected philanthropic leader in the region, is returning to the Foundation as Vice President, Strategic Donor Initiatives, a newly created executive position that will oversee growing work in strategic grantmaking for the Foundation’s fundholders.
Mark re-joins the staff of The Community Foundation after previously serving in multiple leadership roles at the Foundation for nearly ten years, including in grantmaking and donor services in Duval County, Putnam County, and St. Johns County.
“Mark LeMaire brings a wealth of experience working with donors and nonprofits to maximize the impact of philanthropy in our region,” said Isaiah M. Oliver, President of The Community Foundation. “I am pleased he is joining us at The Community Foundation to lead this important work for which he is uniquely equipped.”
The new position, which will be part of the Foundation’s executive leadership team, was created to support fundholders who partner with The Community Foundation’s expert staff for strategic guidance as well as implementation of their grantmaking. His start date is Aug. 26.

LeMaire first joined The Community Foundation in 2013, directing a multimillion-dollar annual donor portfolio that included international relief, housing, education and environment. He has also led grantmaking in a regional capacity, designing and leading competitive grantmaking in Putnam County and managing St. Johns County donor and grant investments. Most recently, Mark served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the United Way in St. Johns County.
LeMaire has an M.A. degree in Sociology from the University of South Florida, a B.A. degree from Southeastern University and over 20 years of nonprofit experience. He is a licensed foster parent for the State of Florida and a 2020 graduate of Leadership St. Johns and a 2009 graduate of Leadership Jacksonville.
