Like fancy new cars? Then this is your weekend. The Jacksonville International New Car & Truck Show begins, today, Feb. 7 and continues on Saturday and Sunday at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center in Jacksonville.

It features hundreds of this year’s new vehicles, domestic and imported cars, vans, trucks, hybrids, sport utility vehicles and crossovers.

Factory and dealer representatives are on hand to answer questions in a no-pressure environment. All you have to do is browse – and ogle.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and $8 for seniors.

Looking for something educational and thought-provoking? Check out a tea talk, slideshow and a photographic exhibit Sunday, Feb. 9 at The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, featuring the works of Vardi Kahana, whose family survived the Holocaust during WWII.

At 2 p.m., Jewish Family & Community Services of Jacksonville will host a gathering of about 60 Holocaust survivors and their families for the tea talk and slideshow that is open to the public.

Details of museum admission are available on the Cummer website.

Later in the week, on Wed., Feb. 12, major league professional soccer makes a visit to Jacksonville as the Philadelphia Union take on the New York Red Bulls in a friendly (that’s European for “exhibition”) match of two Major League Soccer (MLS) teams at EverBank Field at 6 p.m.

The two teams will also hold training sessions during their league’s preseason that are open to the public on Tues., Feb. 11. Locations for those sessions have yet to be announced.

Tickets for the match, which start at $20 for individuals, are available at Tom Bush Family of Dealerships, Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena and online at Ticketmaster.com.

Additional details about the event are at jaxevents.com.

Finally, in the lighthearted fun category, Boogie Freaks – which bills itself as “The Ultimate Disco Show Band” – performs from 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, Feb. 8 at The Jacksonville Landing.

Based in Jacksonville, the band’s show incorporates outrageous and unique costumes, choreography and character play while performing.

This event is free.
