Dali Exhibit at Avondale Artworks

Northeast Florida offers plenty to do right here, but this weekend things-to-do also visit the area – adding to the possibilities.

For starters, a museum-quality collection of works of Salvador Dali has come to the Avondale Artworks art gallery on St. Johns Avenue, with opportunities to view them Friday, March 7, Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9.

The pieces are from Dali’s Suites, including Mythologie, Les Hippies, Goethe’s Fuast and Poemes Secrets d’Appollinaire. This collection is made available by the Argillet Estate.

The gallery is open Friday, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Information is available at AvondaleArtworks.com .

Disney Junior Live at Times-Union Center

Also visiting town is Disney Junior Live on Tour! Pirate and Princess Adventure for three shows on Saturday, March 8, beginning at 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at The Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts.

This never-before-seen-live show features Sofia the First and Jake and the Never Land Pirates. Mickey and Minnie will take their seats, too. The performance is filled with music, amazing effects and thrilling action.

Tickets are selling out. Click here for more information.

Clydesdales at Budweiser Brewery, Busch Avenue

Yes, the hotels must be pretty full this weekend because the Budweiser Clydesdales are also in town for a visit to the Jacksonville brewery, where the public is invited to stop by and visit with them.

The Clydesdales will be in the brewery parking lot at 111 Busch Drive on Friday, March 7, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.; Saturday, March 8, from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.; and Sunday, March 9, from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.

The event is free. The tour center and gift shop will also be open. For more information, visit the Budweiser tour website.

Feeding Time at Catty Shack Ranch

Finally, for uniquely Jacksonville fare, consider stopping by The Catty Shack Wildlife Sanctuary on Friday, March 7 or Saturday, March 8, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. to see the nighttime feedings of its beautiful residents.

Come early to see Siberian tigers, lions, cougars, spotted and black leopards, bobcats, coatimundis and arctic foxes before workers begin to feed them at 7:30 p.m.. You will get to watch over 450 pounds of meat distributed throughout the sanctuary – see their “wild” side!

Tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for children 3-11; and free for kids under 3. For more information, visit the sanctuary’s website.
