OakLeaf Plantation in Clay County was named the best place to live in Florida by a website called NerdWallet.com, which crunches numbers and produces lists, The Florida Times-Union reported Feb. 18.

OakLeaf, which is not an incorporated community, topped the list that considered factors, such as home ownership rates, monthly costs, median income, and population changes, the newspaper reported.

Other Northeast Florida communities on the list were Fruit Cove in St. Johns County (No. 3); Fleming Island in Clay County (No. 8); and Lakeside in Clay County (No. 13.)

National homebuilder Richmond American purchased about 10 acres for $8 million in Jacksonville Beach, where the company said it plans to build 59 homes, according to a report Feb. 14 by the Jacksonville Business Journal.

The development named Ocean Terrace is located at 440 South Beach Parkway at the northwest corner of Butler Boulevard and South Beach Parkway, the newspaper said.

Richmond American spokesman Bob Martin said homes in Ocean Terrace would range from 2,250 to 3,050 square feet and start in the $400,000s.

HP 500 LLC, an affiliate of Hallmark Partners Inc., the Jacksonville-based developer of Beacon Riverside, unveiled its new Beacon Riverside Sales Gallery and residential tower to the Northeast Florida Realtors community on Feb. 11, according to a company release.

More than 200 Realtors attended the event on Riverside Avenue to learn about this new upscale condominium development in Riverside. The Hallmark team, including founding partners Alex Coley and Jeff Conn, multifamily principal overseeing the development Bryan Weber, Senior Vice President Keith Goldfaden and lead Sales Associate Debra Riley, was on hand to answer questions about the Beacon Riverside tower.

Realtors learned details about the 45-unit building, which will feature floor plans from 2,400 to 5,000 square feet in size. An early reservation program is underway prior to the target contract date of mid-March. The tower is expected to start construction in May with completion scheduled for the end of 2015.

The Northeast Florida Builders Association will host the Construction Industry Trade Expo on March 27 at the University Center at the University of North Florida, the group said in a news release.

The event will take place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Companies or individuals interested in participating can view the floor plan, get more information, and obtain registration materials here.
