Young Professionals Enjoy Urban Lifestyle at The John Gorrie a condominium

April 28th, 2014 · Leave a Comment

When they relocated to Jacksonville nearly two years ago, Thomas Schaefer and Janice Flanagan knew what they wanted in a home and a neighborhood. The young professionals desired a new townhome or condominium in an urban setting with close proximity to restaurants, entertainment and things to do.

Schaefer used Internet research to find available townhomes and condominiums in Jacksonville, and the couple looked at many properties throughout the city before coming to The John Gorrie a condominium.

“From the minute we walked in, we knew this was where we wanted to be,” said Flanagan. “We could not be happier about our decision to purchase at The John Gorrie.”

The couple, who are insurance professionals, purchased a two-bedroom residence overlooking Myra Street in September 2012.

“Although we love the community’s historic setting, we wanted new construction and its many benefits,” Flanagan said. “We wanted a low maintenance home. The John Gorrie is right up our alley.”

Flanagan and Schaefer were equally attracted to The John Gorrie’s convenient location and vibrant Riverside neighborhood setting.

“Riverside held its own appeal,” Flanagan said. “There is so much to do here. There are events nearby, many great restaurants and a variety of things to do. We like to walk and we enjoy walking the bridges overlooking the city. We love living here.”

The couple is expecting their first child in June. Flanagan and Schaefer appreciate The John Gorrie’s character and mix of residents that include professionals, families and retirees.

“Our baby will be the third baby at The John Gorrie,” Flanagan said. “We have met so many wonderful people in the Riverside area and at The John Gorrie. Many have become great friends.”

Flanagan has tremendous appreciation and respect for Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver, owners of The John Gorrie a condominium, who completed an extensive renovation and restoration to transform the historic landmark school into luxury residences.

“We are so impressed with what Mrs. Weaver has done with The John Gorrie,” Flanagan said. “She demonstrated tremendous foresight and vision to reimagine a former school and transform it into a beautiful condominium.”

The John Gorrie offers studios, one- and two-bedroom residences and two-story townhomes. For more information about how you can be part of The John Gorrie community, call (904) 383-3688 or visit www.TheJohnGorrie.com.
