The Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida will launch its 2^nd Annual  Community First Hale & Hearty 7K in Riverside Avondale on Saturday, June 1. The race will start at the Riverside YMCA at 7:30 a.m. and the course takes runners through two of Riverside’s most popular and frequented parks – Memorial Park and Riverside Park.

Runners will head west from the YMCA on Riverside Avenue, and enjoy the sights as they continue through Historic Five Points and its connected blocks of shopping, retail and housing located on Oak Street. The last portion of the run will take participants down Jackson Street, the Riverside Arts Market and onto the RiverWalk where they will finish the race along the banks of the beautiful St. Johns River and the downtown skyline, ending at YMCA.

Another feature of the race includes text coupons for participants. After a runner passes each of the one-mile markers placed throughout the race course, they will receive a text message on their cell phone rewarding them with coupons for use at a local Riverside establishment. Runners will also have an opportunity to win prizes during post-race festivities.

Immediately following the 7K race, children (13 and under) will enjoy running in a One Mile Fun Run starting the Riverside YMCA. They will run down the scenic RiverWalk along the St. Johns River toward the Jacksonville Landing. They will turn around and finish the race at the Riverside YMCA.
