Florida Trend Magazine Highlights Springfield in December Issue

November 30th, 2010 · Leave a Comment

One of Jacksonville’s historic and urban neighborhoods, Springfield, is featured prominently in the December 2010 issue of Florida Trend Magazine. Springfield is described as having a “life of its own” as it continues to grow as a hub for artists and young families in the midst of Jacksonville’s urban core.

Located north of downtown, Springfield is a mix of authentic restored and new historically and urban-inspired homes and lofts.  The neighborhood has tree-lined streets, numerous city parks and many popular businesses including entertainment venues, restaurants and cafes.

The article highlights Springfield’s strong, active civic organizations, such as the Springfield Preservation and Revitalization Council and new groups such as Sustainable Springfield, which helped turn a vacant blighted lot into a vibrant community garden.

Among the businesses highlighted in the piece were homebuilders SRG Homes and Neighborhoods and Breaking Ground Contracting, as well as home grown small businesses including Uptown Market & Deli, City Kidz Ice Cream Café located at Third and Main and Three Layers bakery and coffee house on Walnut Street.

Be sure to pick up a copy of the December issue of Florida Trend magazine because you won’t want to miss the story about Springfield and its continuied revitalization efforts!  More information about Springfield is available here.
