A West Virginia-based plastics manufacturer will invest $8 million in a new facility in Northwest Jacksonville.
Flying W Plastics – which makes piping products for water, gas, sewer and geothermal uses – will renovate a building on Stevens Street off of Beaver Street. The company will create 28 new jobs.
The Jacksonville City Council recently approved the economic development agreement and a $100,000 grant from the Northwest Jacksonville Economic Development Fund.
The company primarily sells its product up and down the Eastern Seaboard and was looking for a second location to supply markets in Florida and the Southeast.
The company plans to invest in bringing the onsite rail spur back on line, increasing the building’s electric capacity and will be working with CareerSource Northeast Florida to hire residents who live near the renovated facility.
