Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is pleased to host three Affiliate Summits in 2014, and has chosen  Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville (HabiJax) to host the second event. The Summit will take place January 8 – 9, 2014, from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront and will highlight the efforts being made by HabiJax to revitalize the historic neighborhood of New Town.

“It is an honor that Habitat for Humanity International has chosen Jacksonville to host one of its summits,” said HabiJax President and CEO Mary Kay O’Rourke. “We are excited to share with other affiliates the incredible progress we have made in New Town as well as the overwhelming support of those in our community who have donated time and funds to turning the dream of homeownership into a reality for many First Coast residents.”

HabiJax has grown to be the most successful Habitat for Humanity affiliates in the United States by providing homeownership to more than 1,900 families since 1988. Combined with its other homeownership services, including Critical Home Repair, A Brush with Kindness, Weatherization, Rehabilitation and Housing Counseling, HabiJax has served more than 7,500 families.

The purpose of the summits is to provide Habitat for Humanity affiliates with opportunities for peer learning and networking, to deliver high quality learning sessions on various topics for various size affiliates and to provide time with affiliates and HFHI leadership. Some of the learning sessions will include fundraising, leadership and management and community development.
