Holiday Lights!

December 21st, 2012 · Leave a Comment

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and holiday light displays have Northeast Florida all aglow.  We’ve compiled a list of “must-see” holiday lights displays.  Here are a few of our favorites:

ZOOLights – Come celebrate the holiday season the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens’ new annual event – ZOOLights, presented by Community First Credit Union. Thousands of LED lights have transformed the Zoo into a luminous winter wonderland filled with twinkling light displays, forests of colorfully lit trees and animated animal silhouettes. There is a nightly snow fall on the Zoo’s Great Lawn at 8 p.m. Zoolights is open from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday through Dec. 31, but closed Christmas Day. The cost is $9 for members and $7 for nonmembers. The Zoo is located at 370 Zoo Parkway, off Heckscher Drive. Visit www.jacksonvillezoo.org.

Synchronized Tree Light Shows at The Jacksonville Landing – The Landing’s 56-foot-tree comes alive each evening performing a 10-minute synchronized light show with more than 78,000 twinkling lights. The free light shows take place every hour, on the hour, from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 6 to midnight on Friday and Saturday through Jan. 1. Visit www.jacksonvillelanding.com.

Night of Lights – Millions of white lights create a magical holiday atmosphere in the Nation’s Oldest City during the 18th annual Night of Lights celebration in St. Augustine. Tracing its origins to the Spanish tradition of displaying a lighted white candle during the Christmas holidays, the spectacular lighting reflects the city’s 446-year history while creating a beautiful setting for special memories. The free event takes place throughout the Downtown Historic District through Jan. 31. Visit www.floridahistoriccoast.com.

From all of us at WhatsUpJacksonville.com, we wish you and yours happy holidays!
