School bells will soon be ringing at TrailMark. The St. Johns County School District has announced plans to build a new elementary school adjacent to the master-planned community located near World Golf Village in northern St. Johns County.

“Education is important to the families living at TrailMark,” said GreenPointe Communities Vice President of Land Development Chris Kuhn. “Our residents enjoy a wonderful location with close proximity to outstanding schools. The new school will help meet the area’s growing demand for state-of-the art facilities for elementary students.”

When the school is complete, it will accommodate more than 800 students. Built to green environmental standards for energy efficiency and sustainability, the school’s two-story design will feature extended learning areas and moveable walls that allow for collaboration and team teaching.

The school, yet to be named, will be located near the corner of Pacetti Road and TrailMark Drive. Construction of the new school is expected to begin in Spring 2016. A school district spokesperson expects approximately a year-long construction timeline and anticipates the new school will be ready for students by the 2017-2018 school year. Zoning for the new school will commence in Fall 2016.

Home sales in St. Johns County and the area’s growth are fueled in part by the St. Johns County School District. In the past 10 years, the district has grown 45 percent, nearly doubling in size. The St. Johns County School District ranks among the nation’s best, as cited by Forbes magazine and GreatSchools.org. According to the Florida Department of Education, the St. Johns County School District is home to many of the state’s highest rated schools, most of which have been built since 2005. The district also has enjoyed low teacher turnover and top performing student rankings.

The new school is one of three new schools planned by the district and complements the activity taking shape at TrailMark. Scheduled to open Summer 2016, TrailMark’s amenities have been carefully planned around its scenic backdrop and thoughtfully designed to enhance the community experience. Framed by breathtaking oak hammocks, lakes and winding waterways, amenities include trails that meander through the natural environment, connecting residents with their neighborhood, while TrailMark’s Welcome House, Amenity Center and Camp House are planned to be destinations, providing a social connection in the heart of the community.

Residents will enjoy spending evenings with friends and neighbors at the lakefront Camp House, breaking a sweat in the state-of-the-art fitness studio and afterwards, cooling down in the lagoon-style pool. TrailMark will also include a variety of sports courts and play fields. The first phase of the extensive trail system featuring biking and walking trails opens this summer and planning is underway for the trail system’s second phase and a kayak launch along scenic Six Mile Creek leading to the St. Johns River. The community is growing into three new neighborhoods and expanding its home builder offerings this year.  Soon to follow will be the second phase of landscaping and pocket park improvements.

TrailMark recently garnered the attention of industry leaders and peers, receiving three prestigious Laurel Awards from the Northeast Florida Builders Association for Best Ad Campaign, Best Brochure and Best Signage. The community’s marketing and advertising efforts are successfully communicating TrailMark’s spectacular natural surroundings, outdoor-inspired amenities and healthy-living style neighborhoods, and commanding the attention of home buyers.

From Millennials to Retirees, TrailMark is a popular choice among homebuyers who recognize that neighborhoods with parks, trails and green spaces offer a healthier lifestyle and the high quality of living families are seeking. TrailMark has assembled both local and national builders offering single-family, one- and two-story homes to fit the lifestyle of today’s homebuyers.  The community has three newly opened furnished models ready to tour that will be showcased in the upcoming Northeast Florida Parade of Homes event.
