THE PLAYERS Championship Recognized as a Company with Heart

February 24th, 2012 · Leave a Comment

THE PLAYERS Championship was recently recognized by 904 Magazine as one of Northeast Florida’s “Companies with Heart” at an awards luncheon where Jacksonville’s most progressive companies, large and small, were represented. THE PLAYERS, along with other honoree businesses and organizations, was lauded for leading the way as conscientious corporate citizens and striving to improve and enrich Northeast Florida through volunteer and charitable initiatives of its own as well as financial contributions to area charities and non-profits.

Since 1977, when THE PLAYERS moved to Ponte Vedra, more than $46 million has been contributed to Northeast Florida charities, including a record $5.9 million donation in 2011. More than $4.2 million, or approximately 71 percent, of money generated from THE PLAYERS 2011 benefits children’s charities along the First Coast, which falls in line with the event’s committed goal, announced in April, to generate $50 million for youth-related charities over the next 10 years. Through this shift in focus, the event is well on its way to making a significant financial impact on area non-profits that promote education, character development, and health and fitness for young people.

With the 2012 tournament just around the corner, THE PLAYERS Championship looks forward to another record-breaking year of funds raised for local organizations. Find out more at www.PGATOUR.COM/theplayers.
