February 23rd, 2012 · Leave a Comment

Calling all tennis lovers! Selva Marina Golf and Country Club in Atlantic Beach will host the 2012 Jacksonville Clay Court Championship March 16-18. The tournament is open to United States Tennis Association (USTA) members in 3.0-4.0 NTRP divisions and Open-75 age divisions. The event includes singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Entry fees are $47 for one event or $71 for two events and include a t-shirt, player gift bag, special player’s dinner as well as food and drinks for all three days.

Proceeds from the tournament benefit The First Coast Tennis Association’s Playing for Love Fund, which helps to bring the sport of tennis to underprivileged children in Northeast Florida. The Playing for Love Fund provides free weekly tennis classes to the Jordan and Donner Park after-school programs. Founded by Atlantic Beach Commissioner Carolyn Woods, the foundation hopes to expand tennis lessons to other courts at area schools and tennis locations. The Jacksonville Clay Court Championship is the organization’s largest fundraiser.

Entries for the tournament must be received by March 11 and can be completed online at http://tennislink.usta.com/Tournaments. Sponsorship opportunities are also available with four levels ranging from $100 to $2,500 and a $5,000 presenting sponsor. For more information, contact Tournament Director REB Phillips at (904) 514-0569 or [email protected].
