THE PLAYERS moved to Northeast Florida in 1977 and has been played at TPC Sawgrass since 1982, but even after decades of world-class golf, there is always room to improve the fan experience.  Here’s a snapshot of improvements that fans can expect for THE PLAYERS 2012:

• Bathrooms – THE PLAYERS invested more than $250,000 in bathroom facilities for this year’s tournament.  Shorter lines mean more time to watch the tournament!
• Parking – THE PLAYERS has implemented a new parking program and hired the services of Game Day Sports to improve the overall fan experience by easing wait times to/from the parking lots.  More information about parking can be found here.
• Activities for kids – Youth 18 and younger are admitted to THE PLAYERS free, and this year the Kids’ Zone gives them a place to blow off some steam away from the golf course.  The Kids’ Zone features a putt-putt course, an inflatable rock wall, bag toss, face painting and temporary tattoos for the kids, as well as a place for adults to relax while they watch their kids play.
• Cell service – To make sure fans have easy and convenient mobile device access, Verizon and AT&T are supplying “Cellular on Wheels” units (COWs) to expand cellular service at THE PLAYERS.  The tournament is also providing, via Comcast and Juniper Networks, expanded Wi-Fi capabilities in the Stadium Village.
• Charging stations – THE PLAYERS has teamed up with Verizon, AT&T and JEA to offer free solar-powered cell phone charging stations.  Fans can plug in their phones or mobile devices in The Benefactor, The Turn and Stadium Village.  The charging stations in Stadium Village are solar powered, thanks to JEA.
• Gathering places – THE PLAYERS has upgraded existing venues and added some new ones for 2012, allowing more opportunities for fans to take a break from the action and enjoy some shade, a cold drink and other amenities.
