North Florida Junior Golf Foundation Wins THE PLAYERS Championship Charity Shootout

Fifteen local charities that benefit from THE PLAYERS Championship gathered to participate in a charity shootout on the 17th hole at THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass today. Each charity selected a celebrity or representative to hit two consecutive shots at the famous island green (137 yards), with the person who ends up closest to the pin earning a $10,000 donation. The North Florida Junior Golf Foundation, represented by PGA Tour pro golfer Jeff Klauk, was the shootout’s winner after Klauk’s ball landed just two feet, three inches from the pin.

The final standings for the remainder of shootout contestants are as follows:

  • St. Vincents HealthCare Foundation represented by Clint Avret, Head Pro Timuquana – 7 feet, 2 inches
  • The First Tee of Jacksonville represented by Major Forbess, former TFT Jax kid and UNF grad – 8 feet, 3 inches
  • Take Stock in Children represented by Jason Wade – 11 feet, 9 inches
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters represented by Jonas Blixt, PGA TOUR Rookie – 11 feet, 11 inches
  • The Arc of the St. John’s represented by Carey Splane, Director of Golf at Marsh Creek CC – 12 feet, 4 inches
  • Wolfson Children’s Hospital represented by Josh Scobee, Jacksonville Jaguars – 13 feet, 5 inches
  • The Boselli Foundation represented by Tony Boselli – 14 feet, 10 inches
  • Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation represented by Vijay Singh, PGA TOUR – 15 feet
  • Junior Achievement represented by Hamilton Wheeler, NGA Tour – 28 feet, 8 inches
  • The MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation represented by MaliVai Washington – 31 feet, 11 inches
  • Tom Coughlin Jay Fund represented by Curtis Dvorak, VP of Mascot Operations for the Jacksonville Jaguars – 36 feet, 11 inches
  • Teach for America represented by Russell Radel, 1st Asst Pro at Selva Marina – 46 feet, 3 inches
  • Jacksonville Police Athletic League represented by Chase Baldwin, NGA Tour – 54 feet, 4 inches
  • The First Tee of St. John’s County represented by Brent Martineau, Action News Jax – N/A (Ball landed in the water on both shots)

All charities selected to participate in the Charity Shootout are youth-related organizations along the First Coast, furthering THE PLAYERS commitment to support and elevate education, character development and wellness of our community’s children.
