Jewish Family & Community Services (JFCS), a full-service social service agency serving both the Jewish and non-Jewish community, will host its annual gala and fundraiser co-chaired by Lawrence and Linda DuBow and J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver at the Marriott Southpoint on March 6.
The event, “You Can Count on Us,’” will be emceed by Donna Orender, a former collegiate and pro basketball player and also past president of the WNBA who will help JFCS celebrate 96 years of serving Northeast Florida. The family- and child-centered agency, founded in Jacksonville in 1917, serves more than 15,000 needy people each year.
“We’re excited to have the DuBows and Weavers as honorary co-chairs and Orender as our emcee for an event that once a year revels in the successes this great organization has experienced over nearly a century,” said Colleen Rodriguez, executive director of Jewish Family & Community Services.
The “You Can Count on Us” gala event will recognize JFCS’ service to people of all faiths in Northeast Florida, where it cares for the elderly, feeds the hungry and helps keep families together in tough times.
During the program, a video will be shown that highlights many of these efforts, including those of JFCS’ First Coast Adoption Professionals, its Dupont Counseling Group and its food pantry and other programs and services.
The event runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with cocktails and dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the Marriott Southpoint, 4670 Salisbury Road in Jacksonville.
