Record Turnout for JAX Chamber’s Longest Table Community Dinner

November 25th, 2019 · Leave a Comment

It was another record turnout as hundreds of people ate dinner together at JAX Chamber’s annual Longest Table event. The community dinner brought together more than 800 people at the table that stretched 600 feet down Independent Drive from the Main Street Bridge to Newnan Street.

Now in its fourth year, the open-air dinner was created to get people talking and to connect diverse groups from across Jacksonville. Attendees were seated at the table by color-coded name tags, which corresponded with their ZIP codes to ensure they created connections that span neighborhoods across the city. Through informal conversation during dinner, attendees shared what they liked about the community, what they would change and what they love most about Jacksonville, among other topics.

“Every year when I come to the Longest Table and see hundreds of people from all across our city sharing a meal together, I’m proud of our Chamber and our community,” JAX Chamber Chair Debbie Buckland said. “It’s such an incredible opportunity to meet new people and I’m always struck by how, despite our different backgrounds, how much we all really have in common.”
