Riverwood by Del Webb at Nocatee Celebrates Expansion

May 14th, 2010 · Leave a Comment

The active adult community of Riverwood by Del Webb at Nocatee marked a major milestone this week with a ceremonial groundbreaking for the community’s new amenity complex, The Matanzas Club.

Jay Thompson, the division president of North Florida operations for Del Webb, officiated the ceremony, which was attended by representatives and dignitaries from local government including St. Johns County Commissioner Ken Bryan, local business leaders and Nocatee developer The PARC Group. Afterward, guests joined Riverwood residents for a celebration, where they signed a commemorative golden shovel that will be on display in the new facility.

The new 37,000-square-foot Matanzas Club will feature all of the exciting resort-style amenities that Del Webb communities across the country are known for, including a fully staffed, state-of-the-art recreation and fitness center. Residents will enjoy indoor and outdoor pools, social areas, arts and crafts area, sun deck, tennis, bocce ball and pickleball courts, a barbeque pavilion and walking trails.

The new Matanzas Club will be the most modern, up-to-date and carefully created facility by Del Webb, a company known for its commitment to provide the very best amenities and lifestyle offerings to its residents.  Pictured below are the partners of The Matanzas Club:  Steven Edwards, Edwards Construction; N. Hugh Mathews, England-Thims & Miller; Jay Thompson, PulteGroup; Paul Basham, Basham & Lucas Design Group; and Mike Vallencourt, Vallencourt Construction.

It will be a great addition to the award-winning Town of Nocatee, which is home to a new Publix, an amazing splash water park and recently hosted the 2010 Designer Showhouse by Toll Brothers.  We are looking forward to seeing The Matanzas Club come to life!
