Stellar has completed its construction of Eby-Brown Company’s new warehouse distribution center near Tampa, Florida.
The fully integrated firm focused on design, engineering, construction and mechanical services broke ground on the $10.4 million project in March and completed it on schedule, despite challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eby-Brown, a national distributor of customized c-store technology, foodservice and merchandising solutions, needed a bare-bones, 200,000-square-foot warehouse space built out to function as an office and climate-controlled distribution center.
Stellar installed an insulated metal panel (IMP) wall system and roof according to Florida energy code requirements in order to maintain proper conditions to store perishable products. This included relocating light fixtures and reinforcing the roof structure to accommodate the weight of industrial refrigeration units.
Additionally, crews replaced existing concrete slabs with ones that can withstand the freezer area’s sub-zero temperatures. They also constructed a refrigerated loading dock and installed improved fueling equipment provided by Eby-Brown.
Within the warehouse, Stellar constructed approximately 8,500 square feet of office space to house the company’s administrative and transportation offices. Crews also poured a concrete pad to accommodate a full-time emergency generator, which required the modification of an existing electrical room and underground utility infrastructure.
