The Early Learning Coalition’s Board of Directors has announced Angel Carro as the next President and CEO.
Carro, who currently serves as Chief Operating Officer, will succeed Denise Marzullo, who has been CEO since 2017. Carro has been with the coalition since 2006.
“After a thorough and comprehensive search, the Board is confident that Angel is the best individual to assume leadership of Jacksonville’s largest nonprofit,” said Marcus Rowe, Board Chairman. “He is well respected by his peers and has a track record of leadership locally and at the state level. This, combined with his knowledge, experience, and understanding of the organization, makes Angel uniquely qualified to lead the ELC of Duval into the future successfully.”
The former President and CEO, Denise Marzullo, relocated to South Florida in June.
“Angel is an outstanding leader who has been responsible for a great portion of our success over the years,” said Marzullo. “I am thrilled with the board’s decision, and I am confident Angel will ensure that ELC of Duval continues to be the best coalition in Florida.”
Carro oversaw ELC’s $111 million budget and was instrumental in locally implementing $56 million in American Recovery Plan Act grants. He has deep knowledge of state and federal nonprofit rules and is well respected by peer coalitions throughout Florida. Carro has a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance from Florida State University. He serves on the Division of Early Learning’s EFS Mod Change Control Board and co-leads the Association of Early Learning Coalition’s Finance Group.
