The Florida Council on Economic Education (FCEE) raised $80,000 in support of financial literacy and economic education at the annual First Coast Business Hall of Fame.
The Class of 2020 – Daniel Davis of Jax Chamber, Dr. Leon Haley, Jr. of UF Health, Karen Mathis of the Jacksonville Daily Record, David & Michael Miller of Brightway Insurance, and Brian Wolfburg of VyStar Credit Union – along with Legacy of Leadership awardee, Paul McElroy formerly of the JEA, were celebrated for their business achievements and philanthropic involvement. The Class of 2020 joins nearly 100 other business professionals who, since 1999, have been honored at this yearly event.
The virtual event was supported by over 40 local corporate and individual donors including Presenting Sponsor: Raymond James Financial, Platinum Sponsors: VyStar Credit Union and Sight & Sound Audio Visual, and Gold Sponsors: Drummond Press, FL Blue, the Jacksonville Daily Record, Jax Chamber, FIS Global, Publix Supermarkets Charities, and UF Health.
The FCEE locally supports the Center for Economic and Financial Education at Florida State College at Jacksonville which trains hundreds of teachers and provides educational materials to thousands of students each year free of charge. The mission of the FCEE is to prepare Florida’s young people for personal and financial success through educational programs in economics, the free enterprise system and personal financial literacy so that they become productive members of the workforce, responsible consumers and wise investors.
