THE PLAYERS celebrates Mother’s Day with ‘Pink Out’

May 15th, 2012 · Leave a Comment

In honor of Mother’s Day, THE PLAYERS Championship staged a “Pink Out” on Championship Sunday in celebration of mothers and in support of breast cancer research. In conjunction with the “Pink Out,” players, caddies, sponsors, volunteers and fans were encouraged to wear pink to TPC Sawgrass in support of The 26.2 with Donna Foundation, a local charitable organization that raises funds for ground-breaking breast cancer research at Mayo Clinic and women living with breast cancer. For every fan in attendance on Championship Sunday, THE PLAYERS donated $1 to The 26.2 with Donna Foundation.

THE PLAYERS also carried the “Pink Out” theme throughout the course with pink flowers included in the landscape, a “Pink Out”-themed Mother’s Day pin for mothers in attendance and several additional touches, including:

  • THE PLAYERS 5K with Donna 5k participants (in their pink shirts) gained access to “The 26.2 with Donna Foundation Courtyard”
  • The Sawgrass Splash, THE PLAYERS signature cocktail, was pink on Sunday
  • Golf balls used at the PwC’s 17th Hole Challenge in the Stadium Village were pink
