Don your red and black and head downtown to celebrate the Jacksonville Sharks’ ArenaBowl XXIV championship title. At 5 p.m. Mayor Alvin Brown will make a formal proclamation announcing Jacksonville Sharks Day from the steps of City Hall. The Sharks secured the title with a 73-70 win over the Arizona Rattlers last Friday.
Following the presentation, a parade featuring Jacksonville Sharks coaches, team, cheerleaders and a marching band will make its way down Hogan Street to the Jacksonville Landing where the festivities continue. The championship trophy will be displayed and Jacksonville Sharks owners, the mayor and others will speak to those in attendance. The Jacksonville Landing will feature drink specials, live entertainment, highlight films and a rebroadcast of the championship game. There will also be a silent auction for the players’ jerseys to benefit the Duval County Athletic Foundation, which will help to support athletic programs in Duval County public high schools.
