The 400+ women of Northeast Florida’s Women’s Giving Alliance (WGA) are proud to host the sixth national forum for women’s collective giving groups March 12-14, 2017 in Atlantic Beach.  WGA Member Trisha Meili, the author of a memoir entitled “I Am The Central Park Jogger” is scheduled to address the last plenary session of the WCGN National Leadership Forum over Breakfast on Tuesday, March 14, 2016.

Many of you may have heard Trisha speak about her recovery from her assault, and how important the small acts of kindness of friends, family and often complete strangers were to her.  We are certain this message will resonate powerfully with all the women in the room who volunteer so much of their time to so many different organizations and causes.

Trisha has been very actively engaged with the WGA grants team during its work with mental health, and it has been so incredibly helpful to have her talk about her experience.  At one point, when many of the Executive Directors of WGA’s grantee agencies were clamoring for therapeutic Yoga programs, Trisha was able to convince some skeptics on the grants team that, for women who have experienced violence, Yoga helps them re-integrate their mind and body.

Here’s a YouTube Video in which she explains how Yoga and Mindfulness helped with her recovery.
