Volunteers Make a Difference!

June 18th, 2010 · Leave a Comment

The Corporation for National & Community Service (CNCS) released its annual “Volunteering in America” report. The results were impressive. Take a look at some of the key findings:

  • Even as Americans struggled with the challenges of this tough economy, they still found time to volunteer and give back by posting the highest volunteer involvement recorded since 2003.
  • Increases in married working women and African American volunteers played a significant role in the overall national increase.
  • Volunteer numbers show that seniors, teens and millennials are making significant contributions in volunteering.

This report doesn’t surprise us here on the First Coast one bit! The 2009 JCCI Quality of Life Indicator Report shows a 64% volunteer rate in Jacksonville.

We know that civic service is not only recession proof – it’s a key solution to the recession. We are honored to work with the many citizens who reach out each day to help their neighbors. Thank you to all of you who give of yourself for the betterment of our community.
