Six months ago, Jacksonville professional Milan Velimirovic began thinking about buying a new home. Although he owned a home in the Southside area, the architect and Keiser University computer instructor frequently visited the neighborhoods of Riverside and Avondale. He enjoyed the historic community’s flavor and wanted an environment that would free him from the demands of owning a home. Home Sales on the Rise: Is this the Light at the End of the Tunnel?

All around the country, real estate sales are on the rise. This is coming from the back end of a recession from many people who haven’t had the money to spend the last few years. In the Jacksonville area, media prices for homes have risen to as high as 25 percent more than what they were worth a year ago, and sales have increased more than 27 percent during the same period. Could this be a sign that the after-effects of the recession are receding?
