All this week the City of Jacksonville is hosting a number of events in celebration of the Inauguration of its soon-to-be new Mayor, Alvin Brown. The events will culminate in the official swearing in of Mayor-elect Brown at 10:30 a.m. this Friday, July 1. Here’s a look at the inagural events that will be taking place.
Monday, June 27 and Tuesday, June 28
- 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. – One Vision, One City Community Outreach – The mayor elect will visit different businesses and organizations throughout Jacksonville; focusing on economic development, jobs, community and education.
Thursday, June 30
- 8 a.m. – One Vision, One City Interfaith Breakfast at Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront. This is a ticketed event, first come first served. Tickets can be picked up at the Hyatt Hotel lobby starting Monday, June 27 through Friday, June 1 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Dress is business attire.
- 1 to 4 p.m. – Children’s Inauguration at Hemming Plaza. Mayor-elect Brown’s children will be on hand to reach out to local children to encourage them to register to vote when they turn 18.
Friday, July 1
- 10:30 a.m. – Swearing-in Ceremony at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center. This event is open to the public. Dress is business attire.
- 7 to 10 p.m. – Inaugural Celebration at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center. This is a ticketed event, first come first served. Tickets can be picked up at the Hyatt Hotel lobby starting Monday, June 27 through Friday, June 1 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Dress is semi-formal attire.
Saturday, July 2, 2011
- 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Community Basketball Tournament at Ed Austin Regional Park.
