Nonprofit developer of affordable housing earns Silver honors in the Humanitarian category

Multi-Housing News (MHN) has selected Ability Housing as the Silver Award recipient in the Humanitarian category for the MHN 2023 Excellence Awards. This award honors real estate companies for their humanitarianism and philanthropy at the community, national or international level.

The 17th annual award program celebrates several of the year’s most outstanding multifamily developments, business strategies and professionals. The Humanitarian award was one of two new categories added in the 2023 awards season. MHN prioritized submissions from firms that actively participate in a charity or cause versus philanthropic engagement. Ability Housing was one of two winners selected nationally for this inaugural category.

“This recognition from Multi-Housing News reinforces our commitment to our mission of building flourishing communities where everyone has a home,” said Shannon Nazworth, President and CEO of Ability Housing. “Nonprofit affordable housing developers play an important role in the multifamily housing sector. We do more than create places for people to live; we measure our success based on the outcomes of our residents, including improved quality of life, better access to healthcare, and increased income and family stability.”

Multi-Housing News hosted a ceremony at Resource Furniture in New York City in November 2023 to recognize this year’s honorees. A total of 87 gold, silver and bronze awards in 34 different categories were awarded. Daryl Carter, CEO of Avanath Capital Management and winner of Multi-Housing News’ 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award, was the keynote speaker for the event.

“It was our pleasure to award Ability Housing with the Silver award in the inaugural Humanitarian category,” said Jessica Fiur, Editor-in-Chief of Multi-Housing News. “The organization exemplifies the strong sense of leadership and compassion we seek to celebrate in growing communities across the world. We look forward to following Ability Housing’s impact on the Florida housing market, as well as the national conversation about best practices in affordable housing.”
