Brandon Spikes and Tim Tebow

The stars were out at the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse at THE PLAYERS Championship Friday night and WhatsUpJacksonville.com was there to cover the action! Tim Tebow gathered friends and teammates to golf for a good cause at the inaugural Tim Tebow Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic on Saturday, May 7, at TPC Sawgrass. But before the tournament teed off, Tebow hosted a private dinner and gala on Friday, May 6, at clubhouse, which saw many famous and familiar faces.

The red carpet entrance to the private gala welcomed many of game’s most popular players including Tebow, former University of Florida player and New England Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes, former Florida State University quarterback and recent Minnesota Vikings draft pick Christian Ponder, basketball star Artis Gilmore, ESPN personality Scott Van Pelt, entertainer Fred Durst and many others. Coaches and former coaches were also seen mingling at the event, including Tebow’s former coach Urban Meyer and current UF coach Will Muschamp.

The dinner included an auction featuring numerous autographed items such as a University of Florida helmet and Denver Broncos football signed by Tebow. Guests at the event enjoyed a private cocktail reception and dinner.

The inaugural Tim Tebow Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic marks the beginning of a focused effort to utilize Tebow’s national platform to bring assistance and hope to families and children when they need it most. To learn more about Tebow’s foundation, visit www.timtebowfoundation.org.
