Dining Options at THE PLAYERS

April 2nd, 2013 · Leave a Comment

Food venues at this year’s PLAYERS will offer some old favorites in addition to some new and healthy choices for dining.

NEW: Taste of JAX – Located between No. 11 green and No. 12 tee

In 2013, THE PLAYERS will introduce a new, upscale fan venue on site offering high-end food and beverage options from local Jacksonville restaurants. Taste of JAX will feature fare from Pele’s Wood Fire, Indochine and Metro Jax. It will also have a centrally located bar, video boards to watch all the tournament action and upgraded restrooms. Fans can also enjoy an indoor cool zone sponsored by the City of Jacksonville.

  • Pele’s Wood Fire – Executive Chef Micah Windham brings organic ingredients to the wood fire to create delicious and healthy Italian dishes. Although their signature dish is the Pizza Napoletana, Pele’s also offers field, fish, meat and poultry entrees.
  • Indochine – Executive Chef Susie Sysouvahn brings authentic ingredients to this award-winning Thai and Asian inspired restaurant in Downtown Jacksonville. The cozy, urban-chic ambiance offers the perfect atmosphere to indulge in Massanun-braised short ribs and their specialty drunken noodles are fan favorites.
  • Metro Diner – Since 1938, guests have continuously been served in this San Marco establishment. In 1992 it became home to the Metro Diner, and it soon became one of Jacksonville’s favorite restaurants. Metro Diner will offer a diverse selection of delicious diner dishes.

Wine & Dine on 9 – Located left of No. 9 fairway

Spearheaded by Matthew Medure, one of Northeast Florida’s most renowned chefs, Wine & Dine on 9 goes above and beyond your typical sporting-event fare. Introduced in 2012 and one of the most popular spots at THE PLAYERS, Wine & Dine on 9 offers tournament-goers the chance to enjoy Medure’s gourmet small plates, a glass of wine from an expanded portfolio of upscale varietals from BERINGER and the opportunity to take in their surroundings in style.

  • Restaurant Medure – Medure is one of Ponte Vedra’s finest dining locations. Whether it’s the seared scallops and mild mushrooms topped with an herb sauce and pancetta potato hash, or grilled beef tenderloin with truffle cheddar risotto and roasted shallot butter, Chefs David and Matthew Medure know exactly how to please a crowd, and the palette. Visitors can complement their delectable selection with over 70 bottles of the finest cabernets, merlots and chardonnays.

The Patio – Located close to No. 10 tee and the hospitality area on 18

The Patio provides fans with the ultimate outdoor venue for taking in the tournament. Introduced in 2011, The Patio was further enhanced in 2012 with a new entrance and improved landscaping, increasing the popularity of a place that fans have already grown to love.

  • Pavered, shaded area offering tables, food, distilled spirits and other beverages.
  • Michelob ULTRA “Chill Chambers” in the ULTRA Bar – a state-of-the-art refrigeration system that cools beer down to 22 degrees without freezing. Beer stays ultra-cold an average of 17 minutes longer, allowing more time for fans to enjoy and cool off with their ice-cold beverage.
  • Large video board allows fans to catch all the live action that’s happening on the course while enjoying delicacies from local vendors.

Food Court – Located behind No. 16 green

If it’s options you’re after, The Food Court is calling your name.  Located behind No. 16 green, there are plenty of choices from your favorite local restaurants, sure to satisfy everyone in the family.  When everyone has what they’re after, stake out a shady spot with tables and chairs at The Grove and enjoy a relaxing meal.

  • Bono’s Pit BBQ – Bono’s has provided the area with the most authentic southern BBQ experience for over 60 years.  Based in Jacksonville, Bono’s is a local favorite and a must-try. From St. Louis Ribs to BBQ Po-Boy’s, Bono’s is a hole-in-one for any BBQ craving.
  • Brucci’s – Bruce Jackson, owner of Brucci’s, is no stranger to authentic New York Style Italian cuisine. Born in Syracuse, N.Y., he grew up in his family’s kitchen. His grandparents, born in Italy, brought their delicious time-tested, generations-old recipes when they immigrated to the United States. These recipes are the same ones used at Brucci’s today!
  • Firehouse SubsFounded and based in Jacksonville, Firehouse Subs now has nearly 600 restaurants in 33 states and Puerto Rico. Firehouse Subs serves the best meats, cheeses and toppings they can find. People come back again and again because, unlike other sub places, Firehouse Subs steams their meats and cheeses, releasing a rush of flavors, then stuff a serving that’s way over code on one of their toasted private recipe sub rolls. It’s a winning combination that satisfies ravenous appetites and the value conscious alike.
  • MShackMshack is a collaboration by the Medure brothers – Matthew & David – fusing the old-fashioned burger joint with style and fresh ingredients. MShack burgers are made with all natural, hormone-free beef ground fresh daily. Juicy, all beef hot dogs, hand-cut fries, mouth-watering milk shakes and more complete their unique menu.
  • Tropical Smoothie CaféTropical Smoothie Café’s menu boasts bold, flavorful food and smoothies with a healthy appeal. The food and smoothies are made to order with fresh ingredients. Our smoothies are made from superior simple ingredients, including real fruit and natural sugar. The toasted wraps, sandwiches, flatbreads and gourmet salads are made fresh with high quality meats and cheeses and topped with fresh produce and flavorful sauces. Combine that with a fun atmosphere and friendly hospitality and you can see why people return again and again for the Tropical Smoothie Café Experience.

PGA TOUR Café

Fans watching their waistlines – or with special dietary requirements – will have several delicious options at THE PLAYERS in 2013.  Many of the restaurants at Taste of JAX and Wine & Dine on 9 will offer low-fat, vegetarian and gluten-free items, and there will be a concessions tent, PGA TOUR Café, near the Food Court dedicated solely to serving those types of healthy alternatives.
